Technical Writing

This short course will engage participants in the strategies and iterative practices of professional writing and communication, focusing on planning, developing, and revising research-based documents for academic and non-academic audiences.

The course will emphasize the conventions of scientific writing, and the structure and development of academic articles and reports. Participants will also tackle multiple genres and contexts as they craft critical arguments through the preparation of workshop proposals, abstracts, and news items. At the end of this course, participants will know strategies for planning, drafting, and revising academic texts, demonstrate clarity and precision in their writing, and manage their own writing and revision process.
